We’re so excited to share an evening with movement-based artists morgaine deleonardis and Myssi Robinson at CPR’s Open Studios curated by Regine Pieters. “Recollections” begins to process the vulnerability, virtuosity, and bravery of remembering. Created in residence at Sparrow Funeral Home in Greenpoint, Elizabeth Dishman and collaborating dance artists Tony Gonzales, Mary Lyn Graves, Nadia Halim, Owen Prum, and Edward Rice, explored the rigors, baggages, and eventual freedom of bringing forgotten or faded movement into a communal performative space. A funeral offers such a space where ritualized communal memory can activate all that has been lost into a new kind of life; “Recollections” says, “this movement has slipped away, but here we are still performing it together.”
